Q:

Why do I need cardiac resynchronization?

A:

Your physician may suggest cardiac resynchronization if your medications are not fully treating your heart failure. In heart failure patients, the heart walls become weakened and this can make them less harmonious when the heart is pumping. The resynchronization can improve on your shortness of breath and reduce your chance of requiring hospital stays, not to mention making you feel better.

Q:

What is a CABG?

A:

CABG stands for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. It is a surgery that is used to improve blood flow to the heart in people with heart disease, and involves taking a healthy artery from somewhere else in the body (often the leg or arm) and using that to reroute the blood flow around the blocked artery. If you have heart disease, your physician will review the most appropriate treatment options for you given your medical condition.
