For starters, a diet rich in whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts and beans, but low processed foods and saturated fat, is not only great for a persons overall health, but it is a great way to help with the symptoms of arthritis.  Arthritis is a condition that primarily affects the bones and joints due to inflammation. Foods that cause inflammation, such as cakes, cookies, candy and chocolate, may make arthritis symptoms worse. Sugar is one of these inflammation-causing foods that should be limited or avoided.
