Tanya Cullen Bio

Tanya is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator who lives in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Over the past 8 years, she has worked in the areas of renal and diabetes health. Her own personal health struggles motivated her to pursue the IFNA program (Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy) to learn more about functional nutrition. Tanya recently ventured into private practice and enjoys sharing her passion about functional nutrition with her clients, family and friends. When I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis (OA) – it felt like my world was crashing. It took me a while to accept. I grieved this diagnosis and felt overwhelmed. I was saddened and didn’t understand why this was happening to me. My world was turned upside down. It’s hard to hear that this is not going away. I turned to functional nutrition to learn more about what I could do to help myself. I made changes to food choices, added supplements, adjusted my exercise program and met with other health care professionals to manage it. I was able to find hope. I still have flare-ups and get frustrated, but I am learning to listen to my body and adjust accordingly. It’s overwhelming and confusing to not be able to just do things as previously done and need to adjust. I am continuously learning what works and doesn’t work. I want to work with you on your journey. To help get to know each other better, let me share something more of myself: Growing up I loved to pretend that I had a cooking show and I would prepare lunches as if I was speaking to a real audience. Growing up I loved to pretend that I had a cooking show and I would prepare lunches as if I was speaking to a real audience. I am scared of pigeons. I love dancing silly in the house to relieve stress. I raced up a Scottish Mountain called Na Gruagaichean. I love walking in the rain.
