Ms. Jody Wiebe Bio

Jody completed a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Neuroscience in 2006, and a Master of Physical Therapy in 2008 from the University of British Columbia. She founded We Play Kids in 2018. While living abroad with her young family, she was exposed to community resources she found highly valuable as a parent and a professional. Upon her return to British Columbia, she opened We Play Kids with the goal to create an inclusive space for children and families to enjoy, be connected, and be supported through growth and development. Jody’s passion as a Physiotherapist is helping children gain physical confidence to maximize participation in their environment and the activities they enjoy. She believes that Physiotherapy goals and other developmental support services should be fun, engaging, and integrated into daily life. Jody has worked in public and private practice, and has a strong background in developmental pediatrics, orthopedic & musculoskeletal injuries, pelvic floor training, and sport injuries. She highly values her range of experience and how it has shaped her clinical reasoning and treatment approach. She has a keen interest in continuing education and appreciates the multitude of online training, webinars and research that are easily available to support best practice strategies for physiotherapy. Her additional training includes Pediatric Toe Walking (including concepts related to the sensory side of toe walking), Dynamic Core & Movement, Plagiocephaly & Torticollis, Primitive & Postural Reflexes (Building Blocks for Sensory Integration), Motor Development (Ages 0-3), and she attended the most recent Pediatric Update Symposium at BC Children’s Hospital. To further her tool box for strategies to support children with Developmental Coordination Disorder and other motor challenges, she is currently working towards certification in the CO-OP Approach. Jody’s experience includes working with infants and children with: Cerebral palsy Autism spectrum disorder Genetic disorders Hypotonia Multi-system diagnoses Global developmental delay Gross motor delays in infants and children Torticollis and plagiocephaly Toe walking Developmental coordination disorder & general motor coordination challenges Gross motor delays in infants and children Jody loves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team at We Play Kids. Team collaboration and her role as Clinical Director has positively contributed and further developed her skills as a physiotherapist. During her spare time, Jody enjoys an active lifestyle biking, swimming, skiing, and beach time with her family.
