Soccer players can prevent recurrence of ankle sprains by following through with their specific ankle rehab program, making sure that they’re having the maximum strength and stability around their ankle joint that they can.

As well as using ankle bracing or taping to help with either the return to sport phase, as they are building up their ankle strength. Or, in some cases where individuals have a history of ankle sprains, they will wear braces or tape for each game as a preventative measure.

It’s important to prevent the recurrence of ankle sprains because they can just lead to more ankle sprains, and more instability at the ankle joint in the future, really limiting play of the individual and taking them out of their sport basically for periods of time.

If you have any additional questions related to preventing ankle sprains you can speak to your physician and or your physiotherapist.
