It’s definitely hard to talk about mental health. I think everyone would agree with that. Why is it so hard?

I think there is a stigma, and I think a lot of that is going to be very tough to overcome as a society in general, in general society and in general conversation.

I think part of it is just an inherent, internal bit of embarrassment, to be honest about it. You feel embarrassed to talk about your weaknesses, which is kind of what mental health is portrayed to be. And I wish it wasn’t so tough, and I hope in the future it becomes easier to talk about it.

And so I think things like this, where you’re getting people’s perspective on mental health – just ordinary, everyday people – and talking about it in the open is a good way to kind of overcome that stigma.
