So initially in the first trimester, we're looking to get to know you, understanding your past medical history, past obstetrical history, maybe you've had some previous births.

But we also need to do a complete physical exam in the first part just to make sure that everything is running normally. Usually that involves a breast exam, a pevlic exam, to reassess the size of the uterus, as well as doing some other things, a thyroid exam, checkng your blood pressure.

Also in the first trimester it's really important to discuss genetic screening, if that is a route that you want to pursue. It's important to do this as early as possible so that you have as many options available to you as possible.
