He completed his Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science, which provided him with a solid foundation in optometric care. He then pursued further training by completing an Ocular Disease Residency at the Oklahoma Eye Institute through the Northeastern State University of Oklahoma. During his time in the United States, Dr. Wan obtained a license to practice optometry in Oklahoma. He also acquired certification in minor anterior segment and laser procedures, which expanded his scope of practice beyond what is currently permitted in Canada for optometrists. This additional training and experience allowed him to gain expertise in advanced procedures and treatments related to the anterior segment of the eye.
