Dr. Nelson's journey began in the peaceful city of Saint John, New Brunswick, where he spent his formative years. He attended the University of New Brunswick and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. While studying there, he also worked as the varsity basketball trainer in 2008, honing his skills in sports medicine. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Nelson pursued further education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He graduated in 2012, becoming a certified chiropractor. Seeking new experiences and a change of scenery, he decided to move to Calgary, Alberta, where he practiced chiropractic for the following nine years. During his time in Calgary, Dr. Nelson held prestigious positions in the field of sports medicine. He served as the official chiropractor of the Alberta Ballet and the School of Alberta Ballet, providing care to dancers and athletes. Additionally, he was an active member of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sports Medicine Team, attending to the healthcare needs of rodeo participants. He also worked as a patroller with the Canadian Ski Patrol at Banff Sunshine Village, ensuring the safety and well-being of skiers in the area. Dr. Nelson's passion for health and well-being is evident in his approach to patient care. He firmly believes in the importance of "pre-habilitation," which involves proactive measures to prevent injuries, as well as promoting proper biomechanics and patient education. He constantly seeks to expand his knowledge and skills, regularly participating in courses and certifications. He has completed several Active Release courses, holds certification in the Graston Technique, and has attained his ACC level II acupuncture designation. His primary focus in practice is on treating acute injuries spanning from head to toe, managing pain, and helping his patients regain their ability to engage in the activities they love. Dr. Nelson aims to provide effective, efficient, and speedy recoveries for his patients. In his leisure time, Dr. Nelson enjoys various outdoor activities. You can often find him hiking, scrambling (a form of off-trail hiking involving hands-on climbing), and engaging in downhill and cross-country mountain biking. He is also an avid downhill and backcountry skier, taking advantage of the beautiful mountains in the Calgary area. Overall, Dr. Nelson's life revolves around his dedication to health, wellness, and helping others achieve a higher quality of life through chiropractic care and his active lifestyle pursuits.
