Dr. Edmond Chan is a clinical investigator at the BCCH Research Institute and his research interests are in food allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). As of Dec 2021, he has 148 peer-reviewed publications. Multi-centre national and international research studies include an oral cow’s milk immunotherapy clinical trial, several epicutaneous peanut immunotherapy clinical trials, national food allergy registries (peanut, seafood, etc), a national anaphylaxis registry, CHILD study birth cohort peanut allergy outcomes, national oral food challenge barriers & solutions, Health Canada study of emerging food allergens, national/international early peanut introduction implementation studies, and use of Epitope Mapping for food allergy diagnosis.

QI (Quality improvement) has been focused primarily on real-world pre-school peanut oral immunotherapy, which has expanded to multiple foods, cost-effectiveness, adherence (e.g. text messaging), virtual care, milk/egg ladders, and sublingual immunotherapy in older children. He has been an author on multiple clinical practice guidelines including CPS/CSACI and NIAID/National Institutes of Health) food allergy prevention guidelines, CSACI oral immunotherapy guidelines, and AGA/Joint Task Force EoE
