Dr. Yana Simice, Family Doctor, Nanaimo, BC

Dr. Yana Simice works in a community-based dermatology clinic composed of dermatologists and GP specialists in Nanaimo, B.C. She strives to provide patient care consistent with the Principles of Family Medicine as defined by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She graduated from Medical School at the University of British Columbia in 1999 and then moved across Canada to complete a Family Medicine residency through Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia. Dr. Simice continued her training in Emergency Medicine at McGill University, Montreal. After a rewarding Emergency Medicine career, she completed her Diploma of Practical Dermatology with Distinction from Cardiff University, Wales (UK) in June of 2013. Subsequently, she completed a 12-week Dermoscopy course also from Cardiff University. In 2014, she was awarded a Fellowship in the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She is committed to ongoing learning and staying current with the latest scientific developments in dermatology. In addition to her clinical work, she enjoys teaching medical residents and is a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia. When away from the office, Dr. Simice is fulfilled spending time with her children and husband on either snow or water. Being active outdoors, like many of her patients, she can relate to the challenges of effective sun protection. Dr. Yana Simice is a Family Physician with a Focused Practice in Dermatology. She has been consulting at Skin Care West since 2013. She received her Diploma in Practical Dermatology with Distinction from Cardiff University in 2013. She was awarded a Fellowship in the College of Family Physicians in 2014. In addition to direct patient care, she enjoys teaching medical learners and is a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia.
