Dr. Abe Avender is a Clinic Co-Owner, Director, and Doctor of Chiropractic at Island Optimal, where he plays a crucial role in providing patient-centered care. His approach to practice is centered around helping patients achieve pain-free movement, enabling them to live, function, and perform optimally. Dr. Avender believes in addressing the specific tissues, joints, and limitations related to a patient's symptoms while educating them on potential aggravating factors. His approach is evidence-based and focuses on individualized treatment plans. Dr. Avender has a particular interest in sports injury and athlete rehabilitation. With extensive training and continued education in sports medicine and injury management, he is passionate about helping athletes return to their activities at the highest possible level. Additionally, Dr. Avender finds working with the pediatric population incredibly satisfying and enjoys providing manual therapy to children who can benefit from it. Another area of specialization for Dr. Avender is complex injury cases. He finds it both challenging and rewarding to assist individuals who have experienced complex injuries and have found little to no relief. Being able to give them back the freedom to enjoy their lives and experience fulfillment is a truly rewarding experience for him. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Avender is a father and enjoys activities such as golfing and outdoor pursuits. He is a sports fanatic and has been the Head Coach of the Vancouver Island University Mariners for 12 years. Coaching is a significant passion for him, and he also loves lecturing and teaching students. Dr. Avender loves working with Island Optimal because it allows him to fulfill his dream of being part of a multidisciplinary clinic.
