Who is Eligible for Body Contouring
Duration: 1 minute, 33 seconds
Body contouring is a non-surgical approach to reducing body fat, and this is really the latest wave of dermologic treatment, non-invasive approaches to fat reduction.
In contrast to liposuction, which is a surgical approach to reduce body fat, this is a way in which people can have a reduction in body fat in a non-surgical, non-invasive way. These devices have been brought into Canada in the last few years, and there are two which are currently approved.
These are the UltraShape technology, and also more recently the Liposonix technology. The latter is a type of ultrasound device, which delivers heat into the skin, which causes a destruction of the fat in the deep tissues and then through a wound healing process causes a contracture of the fat.
And it's believed in one treatment you can reduce about an inch of circumference over a period of 8 to 12 weeks after a single treatment. The treatment is non-invasive, has variable degrees of discomfort associated with it, but is tolerated by most.
If you're interested in pursuing this type of option then you should seek out a clinic which has expertise in these devices.
