Dr. Lawren Chan Bio

"Lauren Chan is a size inclusion advocate who began her career as a plus-size model alongside women like Ashley Graham and Precious Lee at New York City's Ford Models. When she wasn't working with clients like Vera Wang or Christian Siriano, Chan also worked as a fashion writer, having work published at institutions like Vogue, Interview, and the New York Times' T Magazine. She later landed at Glamour as the fashion features editor, where she oversaw the fashion news team, covered the womenswear market, and personally owned the plus-size fashion beat. Chan's feats during that time include a print column and digital vertical on size inclusion, designing the Glamour x Lane Bryant clothing collection, appearances on Good Morning America and the Today Show, and speaking at events put on by organizations spanning from Instagram and the Wing to the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Most recently, Chan started Henning, a brand of ethical luxury womenswear for women size 12 and up. In their exclusive launch coverage, Vogue said, ""[Chan] addressed the complexities of fashion's relationship with size early on in her career, and now her contemporary womenswear brand, Henning, is taking things one step further."" Other fanfare for Henning can be seen in the New York Times, Forbes, Business of Fashion, WWD, Elle, InStyle, the Cut, and more. For her work as a journalist, entrepreneur, and size inclusion activist, Chan is the recipient of honors and awards from the American Society of Magazine Editors, Conde Nast, the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards, the CFDA/Vogue Fashioin Fund, Create & Cultivate, and more. Of her accomplishments, ASME said, ""Chan is a one-woman multi-media age force for change, raising awareness about size acceptance and body positivity through her work as both an editor and entrepreneur."" She has also been featured as an influencer in campaigns for clients like Valentino, Chanel, Google, J.Crew, Old Navy, Rent the Runway, Anthropologie, Adidas, and more

One of the most common conditions women experience during their first trimester of their pregnancy is nausea and vomiting and although it is quite normal, it can cause women a lot of stress and fatigue as well as a loss of a lot of nutrients and fluids.

The cause isn’t fully understood. However, it’s mainly due to the increase – the exponential increase of hormones experienced during this time, mainly HCG, estrogen, and progesterone. These hormones have effects on all other cells in the body as well which can cause some of these gastrointestinal symptoms women feel.

Although nausea can be very frustrating and tiring for women, there are a lot of treatment options to help. Simple things like changing your diet and your lifestyle can make a huge impact, like having regular exercise or ensuring that there’s always food in your stomach. Having an empty stomach can actually make the nauseating symptoms much more severe. So keeping a snack in your purse or in your car will help alleviate some of these symptoms.

Dehydration is common in women with increased nausea and vomiting so it’s really important to find ways to replenish fluid in the body. If you’re not able to keep water down or have trouble taking in water, intravenous vitamin therapy is a great alternative.

With this treatment, your naturopathic doctor can also infuse vitamins directly into your blood stream. Vitamins such as B6 and B12 will help decrease the nauseous feeling as well as increase energy throughout your pregnancy. Again, it depends on the patient. And we often will design very specific treatment plans in terms of supplements and dietary change to help with these symptoms.  Lab tests, of course, play a big role in diagnosing digestive issues. So, we would look at systemic levels of inflammation. We can also measure hydrogen and methane on the breath to determine if there are any microorganisms contributing to these symptoms.  If you’re experiencing digestive issues of any kind and you’d like to learn more about what’s causing these symptoms, see your local naturopathic doctor.

I do not understand this doctor. She promotes herself as someone who has helped HIV+ patients and people who have AIDS yet she would not help me a paying patient at her family’s Naturopathic Vancouver business. She pretended that she was helping me but if was only a ruse so that I would spend many thousands of US dollars. It is important that doctors be held accountable for their actions made in regards to patient’s health and wellbeing.

I was disappointed when this doctor started doing injectables. A naturopathic office is the last place that should be promoting and pushing Botox and Fillers. I think that it’s just a big money grab and not helping anyone’s health and wellness.

I was shocked and appalled when a doctor who is a Naturopath spent so much time selling me injectables. She was not interested in my health and the real reason I was there. She acted like a used car salesman trying to convince me how injectables would help with my health. What a bunch of crookery bumble jumble. I feel that I should be refunded all of my money and then some. I do not want any other patient to have to go through what I went through. I want this so-called naturopath to know that there are consequences to unethical behaviour and actions.

The worst!!!!!! The absolute worst doctor. So pushy and impolite. Always behind schedule and always needs to consult with other doctors as she is inexperienced and lacking knowledge.
