It's crucial to continue receiving vaccinations throughout life to protect against infectious diseases that haven't been eradicated and to maintain immunity against those for which immunity wanes over time.

The emergence of antibiotic resistance has indeed made the treatment of certain infections more challenging. Vaccination plays a critical role in preventing infections in the first place, reducing the need for antibiotics and helping to curb the development of antibiotic resistance.

Some vaccines, like the tetanus vaccine, require booster shots because the immunity they provide gradually decreases over time. By staying up to date with such vaccinations, adults can ensure they maintain optimal protection against preventable diseases.

Moreover, adult immunization has broader benefits beyond personal protection. By getting vaccinated, healthy adults contribute to the concept of herd immunity. This means that when a significant portion of the population is immune to a disease, it creates a protective barrier that helps prevent its spread and protects those who are most vulnerable, such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

It's important to have open and regular discussions about immunization with primary healthcare providers. They can provide guidance on the appropriate vaccines and schedules based on individual health status, age, occupation, travel plans, and other relevant factors. By staying proactive and getting vaccinated as adults, we can collectively reduce the burden of infectious diseases and help protect ourselves and others.

Dr. Pinto took over the practice and patients from Drs. Lapinsky (a husband and wife team who were my doctors for my entire life) when they retired. She has been rude to me and my entire family every time any of us has been in for an appointment with her. Any time you come in with any kind of medical issue, she treats you as though she thinks you're lying to her and wasting her time, and sometimes even says so to your face. Even when you're genuinely sick or have some other medical issue, she'll call you a liar before she'll give you any kind of help. My sister was wheezing from bronchitis and Dr. Pinto didn't even want to look at her, told her to go home because she thought my sister just wanted an excuse to miss school, but finally relented and discovered my sister actually was sick and needed antibiotics, then didn't even apologize for calling my sister a liar. Always late and never apologizes for it, rarely looks at your patient file, hardly even listens to what you're telling her before jumping to incorrect conclusions, doesn't even bother remembering your name, any kind of physical contact/examination is rough and somewhat painful. My family are planning on switching to another doctor when we can, but for now we just go to the walk-in clinic as they're more willing to help than she is. It's a shame she ruined that practice, the Lapinskys were great. The staff are friendly and helpful, but she should really quit practising medicine, because it's clear she has no interest in helping people, or even attempting to be personable.
