Dr. Jando is the Head, Division of Orthopedics at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, where he has been engaged in full-time practice since 2005. In addition, Dr. Jando practices at the Delbrook Surgical Centre and maintains consulting privileges at St. Mary's Hospital (Sunshine Coast) and the Whistler Health Care Centre. His areas of expertise include: primary hip and knee arthroplasty; lower limb revision arthroplasty and complex reconstruction; arthroscopic knee surgery; and orthopedic trauma surgery. Dr. Jando received his medical degree from McGill University in 1997 and then completed his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Toronto from 1997 to 2002. Following this, his subspecialty training included a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at the Toronto Western Hospital, an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the Vancouver General Hospital, and a fellowship in complex lower limb reconstruction at the Vancouver General Hospital. Dr. Jando became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in July 2002. "Over my years of training and surgical practice I have developed a greater understanding of the precise interplay between form and function as it pertains to the musculoskeletal system. Whether reconstructing a prosthetic joint or repairing the damaged bone and tissue from a traumatic injury, restoring normal anatomy and biomechanics is critical to obtaining the best functional outcome." In conjunction with his hospital practice, Dr. Jando is a Clinical Instructor for the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia. This role involves the orthopedic education of medical students and senior orthopedic residents from training programs across Canada. Dr. Jando's academic pursuits and research interests have been recognized with a number of publications and presentations. The wide ranging topics have included basic science research, outcomes following major orthopedic trauma, and book chapters he has written on advanced surgical techniques, such as minimally invasive hip replacement and complex limb reconstruction. Dr. Jando is involved in several innovative projects to improve the delivery of orthopedic care to patients within the Coastal Health Region. He helped to launch the Joint Replacement Access Clinic, a care model that has now been adopted at other sites around the province. This model has streamlined the perioperative care of these patients by aligning hospital resources with those of the surgeons and various allied healthcare professionals. More recently, Dr. Jando has been involved in a collaborative effort between the Pacific Othopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic and the North Shore Division of Family Practice. This regional initiative was awarded a large grant from Shared Care BC. The main goals have been to improve communication between primary and specialist healthcare providers and to redesign the standard referral and consultation processes. This widely acclaimed project is ongoing with a roll-out of completed phases already underway. "Living and working within Vancouver's majestic Northshore has allowed me to particpate in the many year-round recreational pursuits and better appreciate the impact that injury and disability can have on one's lifestyle. My greatest satisfaction as a surgeon is the ability to return my patients to a healthy, pain free and active lifestyle so they can continue to be productive at work and at play. I feel privileged to serve the Coastal Region and its population, a career that is both challenging and rewarding." Treatment for shoulder arthritis may include non-surgical approaches such as pain management, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications. In more severe cases, surgery, such as joint replacement or joint fusion, may be considered to alleviate pain and improve shoulder function. It's important for individuals with shoulder arthritis to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

I will be having right hip replacement by Dr. Jando and thus far, him and his staff have been wonderful. I already had right TKR by a surgeon in the US and now will compare surgery/skills in Canada. I have a number of concerns, but none due to the lack of information/care thus far by Dr. Jando and his staff.
