Dr. Ryan Boyd Bio

Chiropractic, ART®, FR®, Medical Acupuncture, Graston®, Exercise Therapy, Titleist Performance Institute Medical Level 2 Certified

Dr. Boyd is a native Calgarian. Throughout his life Ryan has been heavily involved in the soccer community, both as a player, and a coach. As a competitive athlete, Ryan relied heavily on chiropractic care, proper fitness training, and rehabilitation methods to be able to perform at a high level.

Ryan decided to pursue his passion in fitness and athletics by attending the University of Calgary, graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. While pursuing his degree, Ryan decided to take on the role of a student-athlete, as a member of the University of Calgary Dinos Men’s Soccer team. Ryan still actively plays league soccer in his spare time outside the clinic.

Ryan continued pursuing knowledge in the field of health and wellness while attending the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto. While at CMCC, Ryan developed a greater understanding of how to properly treat (and even prevent) various injuries. Summers off while attending Chiropractic College were spent maintaining an active role in the Calgary community, working as a fitness consultant and personal trainer in a network of corporate gyms downtown run by “Health Systems Group.”

Ryan is a certified Active Release Techniques® (ART®) and Functional Range Release® (FR®) provider, and has Graston Technique® certification as well. Additionally, he graduated from the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University.

Golf has always been a passion for Ryan. He grew up playing as many courses as he could across Western Canada. Recently, Ryan has been specializing in the treatment and rehabilitation of golfers. Titleist Performance Institute (TPI®) courses taken (Level 1 and Medical Level 2) allow Ryan to effectively help his golfers treat and prevent golf-related injuries, as well as increasing their golf performance.

Outside the clinic Ryan also enjoys distance running as a way to stay fit. He has run two half marathons (among a variety of other races) as recent as last summer.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
