During hip or knee replacement surgery, the surgeon removes the painful joint and replaces it with an artificial joint made from plastic, ceramic and/or metal.

Treatment for shoulder arthritis may include non-surgical approaches such as pain management, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications. In more severe cases, surgery, such as joint replacement or joint fusion, may be considered to alleviate pain and improve shoulder function. It's important for individuals with shoulder arthritis to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

I will start by saying the staff was great and this rating does not reflect them. I just couldn't give this doctor more then a 1 start rating as a whole; if I could give him zero stars I would. I accompanied my parents to an appointment with Dr. Phan yesterday afternoon. Our experience in his clinic was disgraceful. My father aged 68, has been going through medical hell for months. It started with excruciating pain in his back and side which put him in and out of our local hospital trying to control the pain, shortness of breath and severe anxiety due to the unknown. He was referred to Dr. Phan in the summer and a biopsy was ordered. This biopsy was inconclusive, a second biopsy was ordered. The second biopsy was successful which my father received the results on his “my chart” app the day before our appointment with Dr. Phan yesterday. It concluded that my father has cancer. This follow up with Dr. Phan was to discuss these results and gain some clarity, hope and decipher through the detailed report; also, to prepare ourselves for what was next to come in my Dads medical journey. My Dad has been suffering for months as I’ve expressed and is experiencing sever anxiety which prevents him from eating and sleeping (dropping 50+ pounds) and having an unbearable quality of life. We arrived at Dr. Phan’s clinic 20 minutes early and we were escorted to an examination room at 12:40 pm (appointment time was 12:50 pm). The receptionist said it wouldn’t be long. A nurse came in to update my Dads chart and discuss the reason for the appointment. My Dad expressed being anxious and wanting to discuss the latest findings and diagnosis. The nurse said absolutely I can understand your wanting to see him asap and said “well I will get out of here and let him know so you can talk to him about your results”, she was lovely, which was the only positive in the whole ordeal. We waited patiently (this was a very important appointment) for an hour. I had to go to our vehicle to extend our parking time (we are now at 25$ for parking) and I see a camera crew down the hall from our room. I came back from paying our second parking pass and the camera crew was moving closer to our door and discussing their next “shot” right outside our door. Dr. Phan then proceeds to be a part of a video with this crew. My parents and I are getting agitated at this point; not to mention my Dad is extremely uncomfortable after waiting for an hour considering his state. The camera crew then proceeded to take another video as the first wasn’t good enough. Then, take three happened! We decided to leave as this is so incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. My parents proceeded to walk out, and I made a point of having a conversation with Dr. Phan. I said this is unacceptable and so disrespectful that you are shooting a movie outside the examination room of one of your patience knowing full well why we are here, how long we have been waiting and knowing what my father has been going through. I said “we are done waiting and are leaving as you clearly don’t care about helping us understand this diagnosis”. He didn’t even apologize, just said “okay” and let us leave. I had my parents wait at the door to the hospital while I went to get our vehicle and Dr. Phan called my father directly and apologized for being “blindsided by the camera crew” and then said “you already knew you had cancer thought right?!”. Absolutely unbelievable comment coming from a so-called doctor. He then said, “if you have anymore spinal needs give me a call”. What level of professionality is that? He had a chance to call my Dad back to the room when we were still in the hospital and had a second chance to call us back in when he called him directly; BUT never once said I’m sorry please come back lets discuss these results you’ve been waiting for for months. We left feeling completely disrespected, disregarded, and having more anxiety then ever before. Lastly, we live 45 minutes south of the city. What a waste of time money and emotional stress. Today there’s a report from Dr. Phan on my Dads “my chart” app regarding our appointment yesterday. He states that he saw the patient and then next sentence states that the patient and his daughter decided to leave(clearly didn’t see us because he would have known that both my parents were there). He then states that he invited the patient back to discuss the results and the patient said it was unnecessary. This is completely untrue. We are utterly disgusted with this whole experience and have lost faith in this hospital as a result. I highly recommend you think twice about being referred to this doctor.

Dr. Phan is a good surgeon, however on a follow-up appt. he was very busy and sent a med student in at the start for consult...without my chart! I voiced a few of my concerns to him, a difficulty walking, lingering symptoms in my hand & that my doctor wanted an MRI. Dr. Phan later told me nerve damage is slow to heal and sometimes does not. I prepared for a gate analysis as instructed, shoes and socks off but after some upper body strength tests Dr. Phan quickly said it was not needed and immediately? went back to the case he was working on prior to seeing me. All in all a completely unsatisfactory visit, not what I expected at all. I only wish there was more room for 'care' in the health care system. I have no other option than feeling this way, very dissapointed and who wouldn't be?
