Dr. Nicholas L Yap DC Dr. Nicholas Yap holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Washington State University, a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States in Portland Oregon, graduating on the Dean’s list. He is also a member of the British Columbia Chiropractic Association and the BC College of Chiropractors. Dr. Yap has been involved in Division 1 Collegiate Athletics at Washington State University from 2013 to 2017, serving on the Strength and Conditioning coaching team which allowed him to learn from a wide variety of sports injuries and how to best help the athletes recover optimally and perform at their very best. He enjoys working with patients with conditions; ranging from acute injuries to supportive care for the everyday desk worker to patients struggling with chronic pain. With his experience as a Strength and Conditioning coach, he brings a diverse background in treating athletes from rowing, swimming, basketball, golf, tennis, competitive track and field & cross-country, mixed martial arts, CrossFit, and Olympic Weightlifting. His personal treatment philosophy is to help his patients build a more resilient and durable self so they can continue to do the activities they love doing. He strives to promote patient autonomy, provide self-management strategies, and create personal unique pathways to greater strength and longevity. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Yap loves to cook and explore new recipes to share with his friends and family. He also enjoys playing pick-up basketball, badminton, golf, and other outdoor activities under the sun! Dr. Yap’s treatment approach includes a variety of treatment options including: • Soft tissue therapies such as Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Instrumented Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM), Cupping Therapy, and Kinesiotaping. • Full spine and Extremity Joint manipulations and graded mobilizations • Exercise rehabilitation and corrective exercises for sport-specific demands. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS).
