Bipolar disorders are a type of mood disorder. There are several subtypes of bipolar disorders. The most common ones are Bipolar 1 and 2 disorders. These affect approximately 5 percent of the population, which means that we have about 1.5 million people with this condition in Canada. Bipolar disorder is a serious psychiatric condition.

We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

0/5 I have been to many different psychiatrists and was referred to melissa when my last psychiatrist went on maternity leave. I came in with an open mind as most people at the clinic have been kind (like any one in the mental health field should). Our first meeting was via zoom because of covid precautions on the clinics end. Upon connecting, she immediately felt cold and distant. Ready to cut me off but also clearly not caring about a single word I said. Beforehand, I would have an hour long meeting with my doctor.. with fahy, it is always 10 minutes with not a single thing of value said. Just asking me if I am suicidal and her job is done. She even admitted she has done nothing substantial and has not helped me make ANY progress (at least she is self aware?). Instead of doing her job and making a plan with me on how to move forward and actually do a single thing to help me, she says there is no point in seeing me any more and that I should talk to a GP. I have had social workers help me 100% more. This was a waste of my time but I'll end this on a good note- she looks like she will be ready to retire any day now.

I was treated in the very same manner. Thank you all for sharing my thoughts. I also commend your strength for speaking out. I'm one of the lucky ones who has someone with much more clout than she has. . She can no longer hide behind her white coat and title. In my opinion she has treated me with some kind of sick and twisted blackmail .The laws have now changed. Please call your Umbudsperson and or Attorney General in Victoria's Provincial Legistration office. My rating is 0

She diagnosed me with a psychiatric illness, which is not the case. She is a lousy psychiatrist.

I may benefit by a consult with mellisa fehy, my estranged physician husband, a lawyer and the college of medicine, where she can defend herself against my statements and have a chance to observe what her unethical interview with my estranged husband has cost me. I was committed without an interview. She obtained all her information from my estranged husband who she recognised as a physician in Vancouver. ESTRANGED husbands cannot be trusted to have your interests at heart. My own psychiatrist was away and he was notified by my daughter that my estranged husband was trying to commit me. My psychiatrist (of 20 years, at St. Paul's)called St. Paul's psychiatric intake and told them that committing me would damage me. I was willing to be admitted voluntarily but mellisa fahy chose to commit me. Without a consultation. This happened over six years ago and I still suffer from PTSD. I AM TERRIFIED OF THE POWER PSYCHIATRISTS HAVE. I would like to bring a lawsuit against her but I am STILL too traumatised. Penny Mamacos.
