Dr. Marilyn Janet Crabtree was born is Yorktown, SK, raised in Toronto, ON and currently resides in Morrisburg. Completed undergraduate education and Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Completed the Family Medicine program at the University of Ottawa in 1990 and has been with the SLMC for 25 years. Special interests include: providing care for a large group of Community Living clients in the area, Maternity and Newborn Care and Wellness, newly appointed member of the Provincial Council on Maternal and Child Health and a former Peer Assessor - College of Physicians and Surgeons Ontario. Since the fall of 2012, I have changed my booking system to one designed to allow for "Open Access". Rather than booking an appointment weeks or months in advance as in the past, "Open Booking" provides only about 30% of a physician's appointments for advance booking. These appointments are meant to be used by patients who prefer to have a specific day and time arranged in advance to meet their personal scheduling needs. The remainder of patients, whether an appointment is needed for an acute illness (cough, fever, migraine, sprain, emotional upset etc.) or for a routine follow up (diabetes, BP check, well child, routine medical, prescription renewal) will therefore have SAME DAY ACCESS to 70% of the schedule for the day. The idea is that if you are sick or if it is convenient, you can call and generally be seen that day. Occasionally I will be unavailable due to high volume, hospital work or because I am away. In these cases you will be offered an appointment during the first few days after my absence. Since starting this process, there have been some growing pains but in general it is going very well with a very high satisfaction rate from patients and staff.
