Dr. Kristin Varik Bio

Dr. Kristin Varik is a passionate equestrian whose love for horses has been nurtured since a young age. Her journey began with riding donkeys on her uncle's farm, progressing to camps and regular lessons. Over time, she worked her way up from local schooling shows to competing on the A circuit in Ontario and the United States. Throughout high school and university, Dr. Varik dedicated her weekends to working at a farm to cover the costs of board and lessons. During summers, she would groom at various shows in exchange for the opportunity to compete. When she attended the University of Guelph for Biological Science, she brought her first horse, Roxy, with her. After graduating with Honours from the University of Guelph, Dr. Varik pursued her education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where she completed her studies in 2013. Driven by her professional passion, she expanded her knowledge by becoming certified in Animal Chiropractic at the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Centre. Dr. Varik is committed to ongoing education to enhance her skills and capabilities. For the past 10 years, Dr. Varik has cared for her horse Roxy and has been involved in her training since birth. Currently, Roxy is a proud mother to Colby, sired by Landkonig. Dr. Varik hopes that Colby will follow in her mother's footsteps and become a great competition partner. In 2016, she also adopted Jack, an active border collie/lab cross. Dr. Varik understands that horses are more than just athletes; they require comprehensive care. Her special bond with her own horses has reinforced her belief that horse and rider are a team—a partnership. She firmly believes that both horse and rider deserve access to the highest standard of care in order to thrive. With her deep understanding of horses and their unique needs, Dr. Kristin Varik is dedicated to providing exceptional chiropractic care for animals. Her commitment to continuing education and her personal experience as an equestrian enable her to deliver specialized and comprehensive treatments to support the well-being and performance of horses.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
