We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

Dr. Kelly Driver was my psychiatrist for almost 5.5 years, & I can highly recommend her! Dr. Driver is an exceptional, very caring & compassionate doctor. She is an excellent listener, very nice, & so much more helpful than any other RJH psychiatrist I had seen. Although I certainly gave Dr. Driver a hard time over the years, she was always there for me. Dr. Driver actually saved my life when I had pneumonia, & where she ensured that I received immediate ER care. That led to a two month long stay in the Critical Care Unit, & where my heart stopped beating for 5 seconds. Dr. Driver always ensured that her prescribed drugs weren't causing any physical harm where she did regular testing, even taking the time to read me the lab results! No other psychiatrist had taken the time to do all that! Dr. Driver is a very warm, likeable, patient woman, & she is a very thorough, highly knowledgeable psychiatrist. Although it did take Dr. Driver about two years to finally decide what my true mental health diagnosis was, that was only because I had 3 different diagnoses, after enduring 11 QUACKS over my mental health journey. Why I was put on so many different psychiatric drug cocktails that had only worsened what the first 1996 RJH top mood specialist had under control with just one drug! By 2013, the 5 "enforced" drug cocktails had caused so much cognitive impairment that I was told I was suffering with DEMENTIA! Finally I got a really great younger psychiatrist who eliminated 4 of those drugs, but unfortunately he left the RJH. Fortunately he referred me to Dr. Kelly Driver, & although I tried to fire her before even meeting her, she wouldn't take no for an answer. And it's a good thing Dr. Driver had swooped in, because without a shrink keeping their eye on me I tend to think that I'm my own best shrink, & where I don't need any psych drugs! Although I went off my drugs 4 times over 5 years, Dr. Driver was always there to pick me up when I fell. And when I apologized for going off the drugs, Dr. Driver said, "You don't have to apologize it happens!" LoL. Dr. Driver has moved on from the Royal Jubilee Hospital to teaching & educating psychiatric students/residents, where now she is even a Medical Director in another mental health facility, while still practicing her really innovative psychiatry which she pointed out is an ART!!! That was after I first met Dr. Driver & pointed out that psychiatry isn't an exact science. Oh, & as an added bonus if you're fortunate enough to get Dr. Driver for your psychiatrist there's a big bonus because she's also very good looking too! ; ) I, Mara Rogers, professional crazy person, can highly recommend Dr. Kelly Driver as a first-rate psychiatrist!!! I can guarantee if you are about to lose your marbles, Dr. KD will help you find them!
