Biosimilars are biological products used in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. They are biological products produced from pre-existing Biologics. Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis include joint pain, swelling and stiffness. At first, rheumatoid arthritis usually only attacks a few joints, but over time it affects more. Early treatment is important as it can make the disease more likely to go into remission. Unlike some other types of arthritis, the chronic swelling from RA can cause permanent damage to the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis treatments include disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), analgesics (painkillers) and biologics (medications produced from living organisms or components of living organisms).

Uric acid is a natural waste product that forms when the body breaks down purines, which are found in certain foods and are also produced by the body. Normally, the kidneys filter out the uric acid, and it is excreted in urine. However, in people with gout, either the body produces excessive uric acid or the kidneys are unable to remove it efficiently, resulting in high levels of uric acid in the blood.

Dr Gillies approach using prolotherapy has alleviated most of my back pain. Coverage by BC medical would have been extremely helpful to me and to others who might benefit from this therapy.

I was unsatisfied with the treatment we received at your clinic. I am now a patient at another clinic where l received injections on the first visit. The injections were done with a view to stop the pain (a compassionate approach). In one visit, he received an entire treatment (not just half a head) and the pain was relieved for a few hours. Charges were only $50. May I suggest that Dr. Gillies go into a research position, as she seems to have lost sight of the original goal of helping people get relief from pain. Note: - I waited 4 weeks for an initial visit to "determine eligibility" when eligibility had already been determined - l was referred from a pain clinic in McLean VA. - After two hours of questioning, Dr. Gillies said l was a candidate for "headache protocol" and told me to come back in a week for injections. - First available appointment was TWO weeks later, when Dr. Gillies proceded to spend another hour asking the same questions as the first visit, then gave injections (finally) but decided to stop after half the head was treated (stating it would be "interesting" to see the difference in pain from one side to the other) and charged $700 - I feel obligated to share this experience at your office with others so they will be informed of your methods and operating procedures.
