E DOC: DR. JASMIN MAXYMOWICH
Hi AV family! My name is Jasmin and I grew up in a small town South of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Growing up, I was always interested in sports and being outdoors. You could always find me at the arena, curling rink, or ball diamonds growing up. After I graduated high school, I moved to Winnipeg and studied exercise science at the University of Winnipeg. Towards the end of my degree, I didn’t know what career avenue I wanted to take. I then started a job as a chiropractic assistant, and it changed everything for me. The clinic specialized in family care, and it was amazing to see so many parents bring their kids in to not only get healthy, but to stay healthy. This first introduction of chiropractic shifted my perspective of what it means to be healthy. It isn’t only about drinking smoothies and doing burpees. Focusing on having good communication of your brain and body is truly what matters most. I was inspired within weeks of working at this clinic and decided to dedicate my life to sharing chiropractic with more people. I then packed up my car and headed to chiropractic school to continue my education.
MY HEALTH JOURNEY
In my early twenties I started getting bad menstrual cramps and my period became very irregular. Amongst that, I periodically would get pain attacks that left me in hospital beds and out of commission for hours to days. After being told numerous times that my symptoms were of no concern and that "some people just have a low pain tolerance", I took it upon myself to research on my own and seek help. I always knew something was off and that there had to be a root cause to all my symptoms. At the time, I wasn’t ready to have kids yet, but I was always concerned that how my body was functioning would impact my fertility. After finding a naturopathic doctor who finally ran tests on me and took a holistic approach, I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis. Things now made a bit more sense, but still left me with so many more questions. When researching more I learned that 1 in 10 women have PCOS and roughly 10-15% of all women of reproductive age have endometriosis. Recognizing how many women suffer motivated me to educate myself and take extra courses to become an expert in women’s health. I now use a lot of what I learned to help educate others in the clinic.
MY FOCUS & EXPERTISE
So many women struggle with PMS, pelvic and lower back pain, headaches, infertility, PCOS, irregular cycles, pregnancy-related pain, and a myriad of other symptoms. They suffer in silence but don’t realize that so many others are going through it as well. Though these conditions are common, they certainly are not normal. As a neurofunctional chiropractor I help women address their concerns by balancing the nervous system and allowing their body to function optimally. What is amazing is that once the nervous system is balanced, a lot of the symptoms women experience seem to go away. That was certainly the case for me. While under regular chiropractic care my cramping and pelvic pain immensely reduced and a lot of my PCOS symptoms subsided.
Knowing how the nervous system controls and coordinates all the systems in my body really helped me shift my mindset of how "broken" and "sick" I was to how healthy and well-functioning my body can be. Now I can run and hike without debilitating pain and headaches. I often hear this in clinic as well. Many clinic members express that since being under chiropractic care, their PMS and cramping has been next to none.
I absolutely love working with women throughout all phases of their life. From preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, and into motherhood. As much as I love seeing all of you mama’s, I also love to see your littles as well!
OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
Outside of work you can often find me outdoors hiking, running, or going for long walks. Though I love being a chiropractor, my favorite title to date is Auntie. I have 5 nieces and one nephew that I adore and love to play with. I also have been known to be "the charcuterie queen" because I love to put together grazing boards and plates. Though I try to stay away from dairy, a good cheese plate sure has my heart.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.
For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.
In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.
Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.
Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
