Dr. Heather Lawrence Bio

Dr. Heather Lawrence is a chiropractor who graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2015. Prior to that, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from Guelph University in 2010. She also had the opportunity to attend Augusta State University in Georgia, USA, where she played volleyball as part of the NCAAs. Dr. Lawrence takes a modern approach to chiropractic care, incorporating various techniques into her practice. Her treatments include soft tissue therapy, spinal manipulative therapy, instrument-assisted therapy (such as Graston, Myo Rok, and Voodoo Band), electrical modalities, and rehabilitative exercises. She works with a diverse range of patients, including professional and semi-professional athletes, weekend warriors, individuals in different stages of pregnancy, pre- and post-operative populations, and those who work in desk-bound professions. With a focus on addressing muscle, joint, and nerve concerns or injuries, Dr. Lawrence specializes in various conditions, such as whiplash, vertigo, sciatica, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, ankle, knee, and hip injuries, among others. Originally from Pickering, Ontario, Dr. Lawrence relocated to the west coast in 2016 to further her chiropractic career. Outside of her profession, she has a passion for HIIT training, exploring breweries, playing tennis and volleyball, and indulging in Netflix binges. Dr. Lawrence's decision to become a chiropractor stems from her passion for anatomy and physiology. Initially considering a career in nursing like her mother, her interests shifted towards neuroscience and eventually led her to chiropractic. She appreciates that chiropractic care encompasses her love for anatomy, physiology, neurology, and hands-on care. Dr. Lawrence values the opportunity to spend time with her patients, understand their goals, and provide personalized care, which she believes is a crucial aspect of holistic care. In addition to her chiropractic pursuits, Dr. Lawrence has a strong athletic background. Despite her small stature, she played volleyball in the NCAAs at Augusta State University and was part of the varsity volleyball team at Guelph University. She humorously mentions that she tells people she played middle, a position known for taller players, just to see their reaction, but in reality, she played libero. An interesting aspect of Dr. Lawrence's life is her love for animals. She adores all animals and can often be found at the local Petland store saying hi to the little critters. Dogs hold a special place in her heart, and she ensures she has enough stamina during her cardio workouts to have the energy to pet all the dogs she encounters while walking around the city. Dr. Heather Lawrence's combination of knowledge, experience, and compassionate care allows her to provide comprehensive chiropractic treatments while considering the unique needs and goals of her patients.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
