Dr. David Wickes is currently the President of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, Ontario. Prior to his appointment in Canada in July 2014, he served as Dean of the College of Chiropractic at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His past academic appointments were at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon and the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. Positions held at these institutions included tenured professor, department chairperson, director of training and assessment, dean of clinics, vice president of academic affairs and executive vice president. A 1977 graduate of the National College of Chiropractic, he completed a two-year residency in chiropractic family practice and subsequently achieved board certification. He is recognized for his work in simulation-based training and developed the chiropractic profession’s first training and assessment center incorporating technology and a formal standardized patient program. He has widely promoted the linkage of accreditation to continuous quality improvement in the educational setting and was an active member of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) for many years. He has also been a site team evaluator for several other accrediting agencies in the US and Canada. He served as Chairman of the CCE from 2009 to 2012. In additional to his professional doctorate, he has a master’s degree in education and human development, and has aggressively pursued the incorporation of educational technology into chiropractic undergraduate and postgraduate education. His formal administrative training began in 1997 when he completed the prestigious Institute of Educational Management program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. He later earned a certificate in fundraising management from the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy. He is also certified as a peer reviewer of online educational programs through the Quality Matters organization.
