Terrible surgeon. I had to have pins taken out of my knee and hip that were connected to a rod that went internally in my femur bone. I specifically told him that I knew that the rod shouldn’t come out as I was told by the doctor (shemis, not sure if that’s how it’s spelt) in Toronto it would be there for the rest of my life. In fact the doctor mentioned was constaine’s resident medical teacher or something along those lines so he “should” have known that what he did was a no-no. So getting to the point, while at his office explaining what I’ve already said and what I thought needed to be done as I was having discomfort sleeping on my side (which is the side I had the injury and pins/rods). So in agreement between both of us we concluded the pun needed to come out, the 2 pins in my knee and the 1 in my hip, absolutely know mention of the rod in my femur to be taken out as mentioned already I was educated by the doctor who had put the rod in my femur that the rod would never come out. Also, dr constraine reminded me at the meeting that dr shemis was his medical teacher (how I knew that from above). Moving on into the surgery he decided in his infinite wisdom that he’d take on the rod pushing a surgery that would take a couple hrs to over 5 hrs or so.. I came out of surgery in tremendous pain, the most pain I’ve had in my life, believe me when I say, my accident originally wasn’t this bad and I had 17 facial fractures as well as the compound fracture to my leg, multiple lacerations etc etc. so waking up, I’m moving my tongue around to notice my front tooth dangling from my gums and basically just ripped it out. Thanks dr Wilson, that implant will cost me over 2000-3000 dollars! A nurse (don’t know who) is trying to get me to stand up and get out of the hospital causing me to almost pass out from pain, I told them I can’t leave I can’t get into the wheel chair… she negatively asks if there’s a bed for me to I believe another nurse. I end of staying the night and the next day I go home… extremely difficult for me to bend my leg whatsoever, so getting into a wheelchair or sitting was out of the question. It was almost impossible for me to get into a vehicle as I couldn’t even bend my leg. After a few days my entire leg was purple, yellow and black… if you’d like to see how a rod is taken out of a femur go watch on you tube, almost any orthopaedic surgeon knows they ain’t taken that rod out, they’ll tell you that unless it absolutely has to. Anyways, I’d like to add that anyone with a backround in medical would know that a surgery of the calibre he did (that wasn’t supposed to) wouldn’t be day surgery, in which he had my booked for. He would had had me stay for a couple days because it’s a serious surgery given the bone marrow, pain and just scope of it. On top of that, at the end or some where during the surgery he noticed blood on the light and didn’t know if it was mine so he prescribed me an antibiotic… Everyone has different experiences, but I didn’t have a good one. The guy is full of himself, and for what he did to me. So I’d give him a one star on everything including staff If your reading this Costain, you know who I am and you need to do better an admit what you did.
