Dr. Christopher Kelly Bio

Dr. Christopher Kelly is a chiropractor and the owner of Kelly Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Centre. He began his educational journey at the University of Windsor, where he obtained a Bachelor of Human Kinetics with honours designation. During his time at the university, he participated in their co-op program, which provided him with valuable experience in the field of rehabilitation. This experience confirmed his passion for this career path. With his dedication reaffirmed, Dr. Kelly pursued his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. During his final year of study, he expanded his skill set by learning the safe and effective use of acupuncture, incorporating his extensive knowledge of human anatomy. He also holds a certificate from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), which deepened his understanding of how the human body functions during a golf swing and its connection to potential injuries. Dr. Kelly adopts an evidence-based and patient-centered approach to care. He has the expertise to treat various musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body. While he values the benefits of manual therapy, he recognizes the importance of rehabilitation to minimize the likelihood of recurring injuries. Rehabilitation exercises are an integral part of his treatment plans, aiming to promote stability, controlled movements, and increased range of motion. Dr. Kelly also emphasizes the concept of "prehab," encouraging patients to be proactive rather than reactive to injury. Prehab involves performing exercises tailored to an individual's specific needs. For example, a basketball player may focus on improving balance and foot control to reduce the risk of ankle sprains. However, prehab is not limited to athletes; it is beneficial for everyone. The aging population, for instance, can engage in balance and leg exercises to decrease the risk of falls and maintain bone density. Born and raised in St. Thomas, Dr. Kelly has a strong athletic background, having participated competitively in various sports such as hockey, football, golf, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. He continues to prioritize an active lifestyle and values the benefits of exercise. Dr. Kelly is engaged to his fiancée Deanna and has a black lab, who occasionally joins him at the clinic. With his comprehensive knowledge, dedication to evidence-based care, and commitment to proactive health practices, Dr. Christopher Kelly strives to provide high-quality chiropractic and rehabilitation services to his patients at Kelly Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Centre.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
