I asked for emergency mental health support during a PTSD dissociation where I was crying, shaking, and hyperventilating and instead she said, “No, you need a babysitter” and then yelled, “why don’t you just calm down.” After that I fully dissociated, collapsed to the floor and zoned out staring at the wall. She left me there and I don’t know for how long. When I came out of the episode I went and asked for her name, but she removed all traces of herself from my chart. When I asked for another doctor because I didn’t feel safe in her care, she refused. She also repeatedly misgendered me and called me the wrong name - even though it’s clearly documented on my chart and is encouraged by the hospital. While I never wish ill will upon anyone, I don’t think it’s safe for this person to be treating patients or teaching students how to treat patients without having proper knowledge of how to care for mental health issues or 2SLGBTQIA individuals. My experiences alone make me feel concerned for other groups under her care who already experience disproportionately high rates of violence in healthcare. Additionally when offering me medicine, she didn’t clearly say what she was giving me. I had to ask three times before she would give me the name of the drug.
