We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

Maybe Dr. Richford's "chemistry" is biased whether she has sympathy or not with her patient, judging by the ratings in this page being either very high or very low. She temporarily made my condition worse. During our sessions, she was haughtily dismissive of the circumstances I was relating, and seemed to put her own spin on what I was saying. She would not consider the elements of corroboration I suggested. Her words: "We are the psychiatrists... we know our work... we don't need..." I sought and eventually obtained a second opinion from a senior professional who came up with a more accurate and precise diagnosis. I also learned that the diagnosis showing in Dr. Richford's opinion did not correspond to an existing condition described in the DSM-4 . I would say that being seen by her could have worsened my condition if my family doctor had not reacted with perplexity and strongly suggested I get a second opinion. Dr. Richford sounded biased, and haughtily so. As if she stopped listening.. That is what I felt. This was a while back. Hopefully she was able to help others, but in my case, she temporarily made me feel worse, until later given the proper diagnosis.

I was sent to Dr.Richford for a medical evaluation through work. I found her to be very professional and very knowledgeable in both mental health and addiction. She treated me with respect and listened to everything that I had to say. Her recommendations were inline with what I wanted and I was happy with the outcome of the appointment.

She is the worst doctor I've ever met. She is rude, cold, dismissive and makes you feel even worse about yourself. After seeing her I feel more angry, sad, depressed and suicidal. She has no empathy and is judgemental. She gives you looks as if you are dumb and incompetent.

Dr. Richford was of no help at all. Even worse, she was cold, dismissive, unfriendly, and completely lacking any empathy. I would not refer anyone to her.
