Dr. Ashley Collinge Bio

A graduate of the University of Western Ontario in Kinesiology and Psychology, Dr. Collinge became interested in chiropractic after hearing a lecture given on the benefits chiropractic could offer the average person. Always wanting to be involved in health care, chiropractic offered her the ability to combine her interest in the human body and exercise with patient education on how to lead a healthier life. Dr. Collinge enjoys helping others overcome injuries and illness to work towards healthy living.  Dr. Collinge is trained in Graston technique, which is a specialized soft tissue therapy that works towards breaking up soft tissue adhesions from chronic injury or post-surgery patients. She is also a certified Contemporary Medical Acupuncture provider through McMaster university; using electro-acupuncture techniques to aid in healing. Dr. Collinge also is a certified personal trainer specialist and pre and post natal fitness specialist through Can-Fit-Pro and offers specialized exercise program design for patients. Dr. Collinge teaches the Aquatherapy class at Unionville Health Centre. Participants who may not otherwise be able to perform exercises on land are given the opportunity to remain physically fit in the water doing such things from jogging and cross country skiing to abdominal conditioning. This class is one of the highlights of working at UHC for Ashley as she gets to participate in the pool with patients and see how they improve and flourish in the pool setting. Enjoying being active herself, Dr. Collinge took on her greatest exercise endeavour to date in 2007 along with 3 other students from her class to cycle across Canada on a health promotion tour. Realizing awareness at a young age of the importance of eating right and being active will help people avoid preventable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease; this cycling tour took on the approach of getting people healthy NOW to prevent disease in the future. The tour called Unleash Your Potential spoke with Boys & Girls clubs across the country, inspiring children and young adults into leading healthier, more active lifestyles. Talking with local media outlets was another opportunity she had to encourage Canadians across the country to get up and try to move a bit every day

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
