Dr. Adam Armstrong received his undergraduate education at the University of Acadia where he earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2002 and a Bachelor of Education degree in 2004. He was also a member of the Acadia Varsity Hockey team from 1998-2003. During his time at Acadia, Adam also received the Citizenship Award which is given in recognition of one male and one female athlete who best illustrate great leadership and work ethic both on and off the campus. Adam was named to the RBC Academic All-Canadian Honour Roll during the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 academic years. In 2003, Adam was the proud recipient of the Acadia University Student of the Year award. He continued to pursue his education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic with Clinic Honours in 2009. In addition to his chiropractic training. Dr. Armstrong is also certified as an Active Release Technique (ART) provider in Spine, Upper Limb and Lower Limb. He also completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture course in 2009 at McMaster University. During his time at CMCC, he attended a number of specialty seminars focused on functional muscle palpation and adjustment techniques. Dr. Armstrong is also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is certified in the Webster Technique. In April of 2009, Dr. Armstrong had the privilege of travelling to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic with a group of 11 of his peers on a Chiropractic without Border trip. During the mission, the group had the opportunity to meet numerous patients of all ages with a variety of conditions ranging from arthritis, stiff joints and tight muscles, to heart disease, carpal tunnel syndrome and the occasional fracture. This experience was a life-changing one and was a great way to end to his time at CMCC and provide a fantastic start into his chiropractic career. Dr. Armstrong is firm believer in a holistic approach to health. It is his goal to help you achieve and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. He believes that it is important for patients to focus on all the aspects influencing their health: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, in order to achieve optimal health and restore function. He believes in focusing in on the root of the problem and not just treating the pain symptoms alone. Dr. Armstrong is a very active individual and believes that the sooner one gets involved in physical activity, the less likely it is that the problem with become chronic. In 1994, Dr. Armstrong was drafted to the Oshawa Generals OHL team and continued to play hockey throughout his university career. He has been involved with the Whitby Dunlops Mens Hockey Team since 2009-10 and was their Head Coach for the 2014-15 season.
