My son has OCD and bipolar disorder. It is essential that he takes his medication every day, he’s very med, compliant. So he went to renew his prescription with the pharmacist, they called Dr.Mellon to see if it was ready and it wasn’t and this has happened twice and I could tell that he was beginning to feel unwell. The pharmacist was very kind and seeing that my son was in distress he filled the prescription. My son has not had his medication changed for close to 15 years and I’m convinced he needs to see a psychiatrist to evaluate how he is doing. I had talked to Dr Mellon to make an appointment with a Psychiatrist and that was never done. I wrote him a letter in November I did not receive a reply nor did Mark get a phone call. Dr Mellon does not follow through. I called the office and made 63 phone calls because apparently there’s only one girl there and she takes messages and it took me that many phone calls in two days to finally contact her, and you can’t leave messages. I am very upset especially about not renewing the prescriptions and I did get a phone call from him today and he said he did ok the prescription just like he said that he contacted Mark which never happened except today because I was on the phone with him. I really think that he’s not that interested in the well-being of his patients.

On the plus side, Dr. Mellon has no issues ordering tests. I’ve had probed and scanned way more than anyone could want. On the negative side, some of his staff are rude and he has no concept of time management. In the last six months, I have several telephone appointments with Dr. Mellon. Twice he called several hours late on the wrong phone (he was supposed to call me at home, he called my work number instead, 3 hours after my appointment time). When I called back, I was told by the receptionist that I had to book a new appointment in a week. I had called earlier in the day to verify that he had the right number since he was 2 hours late at the time and she informed me that some days he doesn’t call at all when running late. There were several times where the receptionist hung up on me. Once was when I called to confirm a CT scan appointment as requested. I didn’t realize that they closed at 4pm; I called at 4:01. I got half a sentence out when the receptionist informed me they were closed and hung up on me (why pick up the phone then)? The next time was about 2 weeks later when I was supposed to call for the results of the CT scan. I was told that he would call me between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm. I stated that I couldn’t sit by the phone for 10 hours and that I thought this was unprofessional. She offered to book the appointment the next day, same 10 hour window. I told her that I didn’t agree with this and she informed me that this was how they did things. I let her know that I would be looking for a new physician then and she said “okay, bye” and hung up on me. It should be noted that I found a new doctor that got me in within 48 hours and was only 20 minutes late for the appointment. The final slap in the face? Dr. Mellon billed me for transferring my files to my new doctor because the hours he makes his clients wait needlessly doesn’t matter as much as the 10 minutes his receptionist spent sending a file to another doctor because he was too unprofessional to retain the patient.

You visit a doctor to get help with your health. Especially the family doctor should track all your health record. What if the doctor himself appears like a patient? That's right. He is the worst and terrible doctor. Better to find a new family physician. Hez sloppy and sluggish. He interacts with you in a way like "why am I still doing this job?" Never listens and understand your problems. It is hard to understand what he is talking. Very irresponsible and not patient-friendly in documentation of the results. I asked for a letter documenting my results with specified dates for submitting to my school but he gave uncertain statement on the letter and the date was handwritten. Apparently, the letter was rejected. Its annoying experience. I have to wait until next appointment (1 week) for a simple letter that he made mistake?? seriously?? The staff there are ok but unwelcoming and grumpy. They never welcome you with a smile. Wait times are horrible.
