An oncologist is a doctor who specializes in treating people who have cancer. The three main types are medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, and they may work together to treat a patient with cancer if needed. An oncologist may treat a patient with chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery to remove tumours. In treating patients an oncologist can also educate them on breast cancer, cervical cancer, testicular cancer, prostate cancer, bone cancer, brain cancer and lung cancer.
