Statistics show that after radical prostate surgery most people have some degree of incontinence for the first few weeks after the catheter is removed.
The incontinence will continue to improve for up to a year to 18 months after the surgery. So even though the incontinence is there, it's best to discuss it with your urologist and understand what the mechanisma are that are causing the incontinence.
Some of the simple things that can be done: making sure you keep your bladder empty. Watching your fluid intake, monitor how much caffeine and alcohol you take in.
But most important, Kegel exercises done before, during and after the operation will certainly improve the control of the urine. If at the end of this there's still some questions it's best to ask your family doctor or your urologist and they can give you more options to treat it.
