Dr. John Warner Bio

Dr. John Warner,  Urologist, Vancouver is a University of British Columbia trained Urological Surgeon who completed a 3-year urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City where he was involved in extensive research into the basic science of prostate cancer. His work is published in such prestigious journals as The New England Journal of Medicine, Cancer, and Prostate. Dr. John Warner is a Urological Surgeon board certified by the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is currently a consultant Urologist to Fraser Health, one of British Columbia’s health authorities, with an active clinical practice specializing in Urologic Oncology. Dr. Warner’s interest in HIFU therapy for the prostate began over 5 years ago when studying the initial writings on the impact of non-invasive, high intensity ultrasound waves on prostate tissue. Dr. Warner visited Regensburg, Germany, where he reviewed their results and was present during the treatment of several patients with prostate cancer. This convinced him of the importance and benefits of this technique and the need to offer Ablatherm® HIFU to North American patients. Dr. John Warner continues to be involved in prostate cancer research on a clinical level. His more recent work can be found in the Journal of Urology. Dr. John Warner is a practicing urologist and is in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Health Talks:

Sexual preservation for BPH prostate surgery

Urology Practice isa great pleace to start to look into If you’re experiencing symptoms of male incontinence, a local urologist can help. A local urologist can ask about your symptoms and recommend further testing or male incontinence treatment. Urethral inserts like Contino® are temporarily inserted into the urethra (the tube which carries urine to the outside of the body) to prevent or reduce bladder leakage. Damage to the kidneys can lead to swelling in the hands and ankles, high blood pressure, and other symptoms.

Please contact ( Dr. John Warner, Urologist Burnaby, BC ) to enquire if this health care provider is accepting new patients. Prostate Cancer NOW is part of the Now Health Network and its focus is on muscular and skeletal  conditions.  In summary, there are many different treatments for prostate cancer.  Identifying the best treatment will depend on your specific situation and your preference after discussion with your doctor. It is not true Asian men have the lowest risk of developing prostate cancer. African men have the highest risk. Often seeing a local urologist in Toronto can help.

Medications like alpha blockers don't actually treat BPH, they treat the symptoms by relaxing the muscle around the urethra, so thereby reducing some of the resistance.

Sometimes we will add in a second line medication in order to try and shrink the prostate. These medications are called the five alpha reductase inhibitors. So we have Proscar or Avodart These are medications which work by lowering the conversion of testosterone within the prostate. Over a period of 6 to 12 months, this can shrink the prostate by around 20%.

This guy should be banned from the medical profession. After my surgery, he talked to me from out in the hallway of the hospital. My prostate was removed and I had a catheter in. I complained for weeks of pain and burning, he told the reception there was nothing he could do. When I went to having it removed he took it out and threw me a single pill in a dirty looking blister pack and said take this and walked out. The pain and burning continued, so I went to my gp. He said I have a uti from the surgery and prescribed anti bionics. This guy is a disgrace. I have a friend who recently retired from royal Columbian hospital. She told me staff there call him the burnaby butcher.
