Ac Paul Marchinko grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His passion for natural health began at an early age. Paul spent his high school days working in a local family run health food store. There he learned the importance of balancing the whole-lifestyle approach of the East with the results-based rigour of the West, believing that together they offer the greatest potential for better health. The Field of Health Care Deciding to explore the field of health care, Paul relocated to Toronto. He graduated from the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2007 and received his diploma in Chinese Herbs in 2011, making him a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R. TCMP) and Registered Acupuncturist (R. Ac). Paul is also a Toronto Metropolitan University graduate with Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (B.A PSYCH). Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Paul prides himself in treating clients with dignity, sincerity and respect and is dedicated to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments which include acupuncture, acupressure (Tui Na/Tuina massage), and Chinese herbal medicine. Paul has a special interest in treating ailments of the reproductive, respiratory, and digestive systems. These include fertility, sinus congestion and abdominal pain. He is also proficient in relieving many different types of aches and pains, as well as stress, insomnia, nausea, incontinence, hemorrhoids, headaches and migraine. Approach to Treatment Paul’s TCM treatment protocol is typically 20-25 minutes with fine acupuncture needles, to improve the flow of qi (pronounced “chee”), and 10-15 minutes of Tui Na massage (acupressure) to help release tension. Sometimes Paul incorporates impulses of electromagnetic energy, similar to what is known as TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), a method of pain relief involving the use of a mild electrical current. It has a tingling or buzzing feeling. It can be applied through the needle or directly to acupuncture points using a hand-held device. Regulated Health Profession TCM is a regulated health profession, governed by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) of which Paul is a member.
