An avid public speaker and healthy-living enthusiast, Dr. Fahara Mawani holds a doctorate in Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry (2001), and pursued her Biological Sciences degree prior to that from the University of Alberta. Passionate about learning-related vision problems, Dr. Fahara actively speaks to schools in the greater Vancouver area and provides insight on alternative approaches on remediating vision problems. In her spare time she performs volunteer eye exams for the BC Special Olympics and has gone on several eye care missions in Nicaragua with VOSH (Vision Optometric Services for Humanity). As a Developmental Optometrist, she takes a keen interested in working with paediatric patients (especially in areas of learning), patients with traumatic brain injury and binocular vision disorders. When not delving into work, Dr. Fahara can be found mountain biking, doing yoga, snowboarding, cooking and enjoying the beautiful BC outdoors.
