We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

Stay away. Will diagnose you in 15 mins without consulting previous history. After asking for my file, I noted he wrote “yes” to symptoms I said I do not experience. If you’re a CAMH patient, you’ll enter a game of broken telephone from then on, since most staff members will simply defer to his misdiagnosis. Once I was finally diagnosed by a different doctor elsewhere, it was with the disorder I had tried desperately to describe to Sokolov, and this time the medication saved my life.

Was fixated on a theme of me drinking. I don't drink or smoke. Finally I told him I had a drink 6 months ago. It became the central theme of his report. Shoddy. I had no addictions and no drug issues. Guess that makes him and CAMH obsolete for me.

The worst at listening. Threatened dismissal even though I was suicidal at the time because of wrong diagnosis and wrong meds at the time. 10 years later I have my life back but will never forgive him or CAMH. Almost killed me.

Doctor figured out my problem. He was short in conversation because was one time meeting at CAMH. He told me the reason of my agitation was to much SSRI in my body because the previous doctor increased my meds to quick.

Dr Sokolov listened attentively to what I had to say and seemed very perspective to my current state of mind. He had overseen a short stay I had at CAMH during a drug enduced psychosis. Though I don’t remember personally meeting him then, the follow up appointment left me feeling well cared for and understood. He helped me gain a better insight into the importance of maintaining my sobriety to stabilize my baseline mental health. He also made sure the records were straight regarding my current mental health status.

Dr Sokolov rushed my consultation and didn't provide accurate care. His report was full of inaccuracies. I was signed up for a group for people with panic disorders even though I dont have one. The help that I did ask for fell on deaf ears. I've been trying to reach the doctor or someone on his team for two months in regards to my medication. I have experience severe weight loss and a seizure and believe it ay be due to the medication.
