Invisalign
If you do not want people to know you are getting any treatment done, then there are other methods of straightening crooked teeth without anyone noticing. Such treatment systems like invisalign or braces behind your teeth known as lingual orthodontics are also popular among teenagers, actors, models and adults.
Invisalign has been made famous due to the expensive marketing campaign the company has done in recent years, and almost everyone has heard a little something about it. This treatment technique will be explained below.
Invisalign uses a system of clear plastic like trays that are worn daily that move your teeth a little with each tray worn. There are no metal brackets or wires hence no one knows your getting any treatment done. This may be the choice for you if you want to have control of your treatment and not want anyone knowing your teeth are moving. The clear plastic trays have to be removed when eating and chewing. Because the trays are removed periodically there is not as constant a force on your teeth as with other systems and thus invisalign will take longer to move your teeth than traditional metal braces. Roughly only about 80% of all patients are suitable candidates for invisalign, the remaining cases require different methods to correct the crowding problem. This is because the clear trays have difficulty correcting severe rotations of teeth as well as providing treatment if a patient's teeth need to be extracted.
Speed Braces
Speed Braces are a type of metal braces which improves treatment time requiring fewer appointments, is easier to clean and generally more tolerable to patients than traditional braces. Treatment is usually 3-6 months quicker than previous metal braces. Speed braces are a good treatment for crowding, rotated, misaligned and crooked teeth.
Metal Braces
Metal braces are smaller and much less noticeable than they were 5 years ago. The orthodontic brackets are far more advanced than previously. Metal braces are a good choice for any dental treatment for crowding, misaligned, and crooked teeth. They can also be the best choice in terms of speed of treatment and affordability. Several patients are often very concerned of the price of orthodontic treatment. In my Surrey office we use several bracket systems.
