Your eyes have clear liquid that flows in and out, but if you have glaucoma, this liquid doesn’t drain properly, causing this buildup of IOP pressure. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is made up of nerve fibers and transmits images from the eye to your brain. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Our eye works a lot like a camera. In order for us to see clearly, the Cornea has light has to be focused by a lens. We are all born with a lens inside our eye that does this job for us and in early life it is crystal clear. As we age, this lens can become cloudy and begin to block light or create blur. We call this change in the lens a “cataract”.

Fortunately, cataracts are treatable through surgery. During cataract surgery, the clouded lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure is highly successful in restoring clear vision for most people, allowing them to see more clearly and improve their quality of life.

I have 6000 more words to add. Dr. Vijay is a gaslighter. I would not trust him with my eye health. He is a liar. I have found the proof in medical journals that what he told me was a lie. Not a good doctor at all.

I was at this clinic today apparently they do different tests for the rich and for the poor .one test is covered by Ohip or you can have a more accurate test done with laser but it will cost you 400.00. Then the receptionist explained a 4 page document of what to do the day of the surgery but your appointment isn't for 10 months. 10 months I couldn't believe it.i asked the receptionist why they are taking patients when they are so far behind why wouldn't people be sent somewhere else instead of walking around blind for a year waiting to have cataracts removed.I was informed by the receptionist if I wanted to go anywhere else I would have to pay for the surgery. This is the healthcare people can expect to receive when they move to northern Ontario

This is from a vist over a year ago. Referred by my optometrist, waited months, so was surprised to be rushed through appointment. Very pleasant; used puffer on my eyes and wrote prescription for eye pressure drops; gave 20 repeats and said to come back in four months. There was no other discussion about the drops. He noticed my dry eye drops I had with me had no preservative and said, thats good, no preservatives, yet prescribed strong eye drops with a preservative. This was when first starting out... maybe he has changed and not under so much pressure? Is now also in his own office and not sharing; however, I would definitely hestitate to revisit. Afer when I asked my optometrist of 12 years if I could have my eye pressure retaken at intervals and come in to discuss the appointment and medications with her, she refused. Therefore I changed optometrists and was also referred to one of the top gluocoma specialists in Ontario if not Canada! I feel I should have spoken up at the time and would in future: my eyes!
