We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. At the lowest point in my life, I was fortunate enough to be referred to Dr. Nadine Nyhus. While I was no stranger to mental health support, only Dr. Nyhus was able to identify the root of my challenges and effectively treat the traumatic conditions I've carried since childhood. Without her expertise, I'm not sure where I'd be today. I am deeply grateful for Dr. Nyhus's support, which has helped me cultivate a healthy sense of self, paving the way for success in numerous aspects of my life.

I started seeing Dr. Nadine Nyhus in the summer of 2020, during a really difficult and uncertain time in my life. I was struggling with depression, PTSD and as well as some extremely confusing and painful life events that I was trying to come to terms with. I went to a few practitioners without any success until I was introduced to Dr. Nyhus. From our very first session, I felt seen, heard, and supported. Dr. Nyhus introduced me to a therapy called IFS (Internal Family Systems). This was completely new to me but turned out to be a very powerful modality and was instrumental in my healing journey. Dr. Nyhus brilliantly and masterfully led me through this modality during each session. In each session I was surprised, humbled and amazed at what came to light and the healing that followed. Along with IFS, Dr Nyhus taught me about attachment and regulation of the autonomic nervous system, providing me with a number of helpful and practical insights and tools that I still use to this day. What really stands out about Dr. Nyhus is how knowledgeable she is—not just in one area, but in several therapeutic approaches. She draws from different modalities depending on what’s needed. I appreciate how thoughtful and intentional she is with that. It’s clear that she is constantly learning, growing and staying up to date with the latest information in her field, which gives me a lot of confidence in the care I’m receiving. Dr. Nyhus and I communicated about the options of medication to help on my journey. I was amazed at how knowledgeable, invested and professional she was during this part of my exploration. Her prowess gave me the assurance that I needed to confidently consider these options. Dr. Nyhus is the consummate professional. Dr. Nyhus helped me navigate some incredibly tough moments and painful memories with a mix of compassion, skill, and insight. I’m forever grateful that Dr. Nyhus was willing to stand with me, walk with me and assist me in my healing journey. Her support has made a lasting difference in my life, and I’m so grateful to her and the work that we did together. I’m forever changed! R Sharpe

My life had gotten out of control, and I was desperate to find help. I have tried other counselors in the past, that were all talk-therapy kind of counselor - and none of them helped. In fact I often ended up worse, because after the counseling failed I felt a lot of despair. Dr. Nyhus was exactly what I needed. A psychiatrist who helped me by leading me to confront my own self-defenses, and was strong enough to to help me hold emotional ground and make progress. She is literally a life changer, and my wife agrees. Seek her out if you truly want change and are willing to put in the effort.
