Your eyes have clear liquid that flows in and out, but if you have glaucoma, this liquid doesn’t drain properly, causing this buildup of IOP pressure. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is made up of nerve fibers and transmits images from the eye to your brain. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Our eye works a lot like a camera. In order for us to see clearly, the Cornea has light has to be focused by a lens. We are all born with a lens inside our eye that does this job for us and in early life it is crystal clear. As we age, this lens can become cloudy and begin to block light or create blur. We call this change in the lens a “cataract”.

Fortunately, cataracts are treatable through surgery. During cataract surgery, the clouded lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure is highly successful in restoring clear vision for most people, allowing them to see more clearly and improve their quality of life.

I had an appointment booked with Dr. Mehta and, before going, checked the reviews. They were not so good, but since they are based on personal experience and personal expectations, I decided not to let myself be influenced by them before my own appointment. Now I can only say that, at least in my case, Dr. Mehta was extremely professional. She did a thorough examination of my eyes and referred me to a retina specialist (who solved my problem). I did have to wait a bit – the whole process took 2 hours and a half, though that was not so much longer than the 2h they told me it might take. I left the clinic with the impression that she knows her métier.

Reasonable waiting time (30 min) at Eye Clinic ( Meadowlark). Dr. Mehta has answered all my questions patiently , no rush. I feel that she was really paying attention to all my concerns and I feel very comfortable during my visit with Dr. Mehta and her staff. She is very professional.

I was very disappointed with Dr. Mehta when I realized she is not really interested in her patient and her practice at least in my opinion. I was referred to her because I needed my cataracts assessed and found i needed surgery She does not perform the surgery herself and sent me on to a surgeon. The surgeon she referred me to does not implant multifocal IOLs and I mistakenly used these two opinions to opt out of the multifocal lenses option. Dr. Mehta informed me she didn't know the surgeon did not implant multifocal lenses. This is a referral? I have done a lot or research and there is not a surgeon I have contact that will do the surgery to remove my monofocal lenses and replace them with multifocal lenses . I wish there was some help for me as I have worn glasses for 56 years and was looking forward to not having to continue with the glasses.....

I was referred to Dr. Mehta for assessment/removal of a growth on my eyelid. I did not think I needed a full assessment since I had seen an optometrist a few months before. Dr. Mehta kindly said, no, she would not want me to leave the office without her first making sure of my overall eye health. One test she had repeated just to make sure of the results. Thank goodness for that, because she caught that I had glaucoma and immediately started me on treatment. She was very compassionate and explained everything really well. I am very impressed with the care and manner of Dr. Mehta. I will return to her again and would absolutely recommend her. To mention, her technicians (I remember Florence, especially) appear to be excellently prepared and skilled in testing, and everyone at the Edmonton Eye Clinic (in Meadowlark Health Centre) were friendly and helpful.
