Professeur adjoint de clinique, Université Laval Rhumatologue, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Québec, Pavillon CHUL Dr. Bessette a fait ses études en médecine et sa résidence en rhumatologie à l’Université Laval. Il a par la suite complété une formation en recherche clinique au Multipurpose Arthritis Center du Brigham and Women’s hospital à Boston de 1994 à 1996. Il a au même moment obtenu une maîtrise en épidémiologie à l’école de santé publique de Harvard. Le Dr. Bessette travaille au centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec, pavillon CHUL et au centre de l’ostéoporose et de rhumatologie de Québec. Il est co-directeur de l’étude canadienne multicentrique sur l’ostéoporose (CaMOS) et chargé de programme du Programme Reconnaître l’Ostéoporose et ses Conséquences au Québec (ROCQ). Il est actuellement le directeur du programme de rhumatologie à l’Université Laval depuis 2007. Il est auteur et coauteur de 38 articles scientifiques et 35 affiches présentées à des congrès scientifiques. Les intérêts de recherche du Dr. Bessette sont l’ostéoporose, les échelles de la qualité de vie, les études pharmacoéconomiques, l’arthrite rhumatoïde, les spondylarthropathies et l’arthrose.

Dr. Louis Bessette , Rheumatologist, Quebec City subsequently completed training in clinical research at the Multipurpose Arthritis Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston from 1994 to 1996. At the same time, he obtained a master’s degree in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Louis Bessette , Rheumatologist, Quebec City works at the Quebec university hospital center, CHUL pavilion and at the Quebec osteoporosis and rheumatology center. Dr. Louis Bessette , Rheumatologist, Quebec City is co-director of the Canadian Multicenter Study on Osteoporosis (CaMOS) and program manager of the Program Recognizing Osteoporosis and its Consequences in Quebec (ROCQ). He is currently the director of the rheumatology program at Laval University since 2007. He is author and co-author of 38 scientific articles and 35 posters presented at scientific conferences. Dr. Bessette's research interests are osteoporosis, quality of life scales, pharmacoeconomic studies, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies and osteoarthritis.

Biosimilars are biological products used in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. Normally, the kidneys filter out the uric acid, and it is excreted in urine. However, in people with gout, either the body produces excessive uric acid or the kidneys are unable to remove it efficiently, resulting in high levels of uric acid in the blood.
