Your eyes have clear liquid that flows in and out, but if you have glaucoma, this liquid doesn’t drain properly, causing this buildup of IOP pressure. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is made up of nerve fibers and transmits images from the eye to your brain. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Our eye works a lot like a camera. In order for us to see clearly, the Cornea has light has to be focused by a lens. We are all born with a lens inside our eye that does this job for us and in early life it is crystal clear. As we age, this lens can become cloudy and begin to block light or create blur. We call this change in the lens a “cataract”.

Fortunately, cataracts are treatable through surgery. During cataract surgery, the clouded lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure is highly successful in restoring clear vision for most people, allowing them to see more clearly and improve their quality of life.

After seeing the all the issues and lack of care my mom has been receiving from Dr. Jordan Cheskes, I would not recommend him to anyone. After 2 unsuccessful retina surgeries, she's left with barely any vision. One of her eyes already had macular degeneration with very low vision so this was her good eye that she was able to depend on for everything. First surgery, retina failed to attach and she called after some issues started happening within a week or two after the initial surgery and next day appointment. Her concerns were basically ignored and was left with the original appointment that was already made, even though parts of her sight were dark/black unable to see. Next appointment comes and she's told she needs another emergency surgery (failed to get her in sooner after she mentioned the issues that were happening weeks prior.) Now more of her retina was cut again and oil was put in her eye instead of the gas. The oil was also left in much longer than it should have been and in between having oil and needles in the eye, my mom is still left unable to see, drive or do any daily activities like she could 10/11 months ago. She was supposed to have all the oil removed in the third procedure but oil was still left in her eye, ridiculous. She mentioned that in her last appointment and all she was told was if it bothers you we can go back inside (a fourth surgery, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) Why wasn't it done right the first time? All of the oil was supposed to be removed and why would someone mention an issue if it didn't bother them? Makes no sense. I don't know what is going on with this place but is anyone qualified? Is Dr. Jordan Cheskes even qualified to perform these surgeries and procedures? My mom is left with large bubbles floating around her eye with already blurred vision plus her other eye that has macular degeneration. She's depressed and unable to get basic tasks done. Can't drive, can't email, can't read, can't watch tv, can't do grocery shopping alone. Something really needs to be done. This is unacceptable on so many levels.

I have no idea why Dr.Cheskes never explains any procedure or condition w me. Twice I've had to get a 2nd opinion from another retina spec'st. I lost complete vision & have permanent retina damage after he gave eye injections in 1 one of my eyes. And his secretary is just awful to everyone & tries to answer my eye quest's when she has no medical knowledge or training. Awful & life-altering experience Dr.cheskes gave me. No support services, no educational material, no info on my condi's & no feeling of a best course of action. He treats certain pts differently & it's morally & ethically wrong. Don't know how he sleeps at night with his millions & cushy life-style. Disgraceful conduct & may he be forever grateful I never contact a lawyer or CPSO.

Dr. Cheskes took the time to explain what needed to be done. He was accommodating when I wanted anesthetic and realized it was what I needed. After the operation he as kind and considerate. I was fortunate to have been recommended to him by Dr. Brookes in Oshawa.
