Dr. Coil holds the position of Director of the Graduate Endodontics Program in the Department of Oral Biological and Medical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He is also actively involved as a mentor for the Northwest Endodontic Study Club and Seminar.
Dr. Coil completed his undergraduate, dental, and doctorate/PhD degrees at the University of British Columbia. After practicing general dentistry for eight years and serving as a Clinical Instructor in Endodontics and Periodontics, he pursued further specialization in Endodontics. He obtained his certificate in Endodontics from the University of Washington in 1993.
In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Coil contributes to the field of endodontics through his involvement in various professional organizations and publications. He serves as an editorial consultant for the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Journal of Endodontics.
Dr. Coil has held leadership positions within the field of endodontics, including past President of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the British Columbia Society of Endodontists, Canadian Academy of Endodontics, and the American Association of Endodontists.
Furthermore, Dr. Coil has received recognition for his contributions to dentistry. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, Academy of Dentistry International, and American College of Dentists. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, signifying his advanced knowledge and expertise in the field.
