Jay Veal has been a healthcare chief executive since 1998. Partnering with Karen Skinner, he co-founded The Recovery Center in 2015, specializing in Intensive Outpatient addiction treatment and ambulatory detox services. Mr. Veal holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Georgia, a nursing degree from Athens Area Technical College, and a Masters of Science degree from California University of Pennsylvania, with a specialty certification in nurse anesthesia from The Washington Hospital in Washington, PA. In addition to The Washington Hospital for general surgical anesthesia training, Mr. Veal trained at the prestigious Pittsburgh Hospitals: Presbyterian Hospital for Neurosurgical, Level I Trauma & Transplant anesthesia, Magee Women's Hospital for regional anesthesia for obstetrics, and Eye & Ear Hospital of Pittsburgh. Jay first entered the field of substance use disorder care by founding and operating a sober living community in 2009. He holds a designation as Certified Addictions Registered Nurse since 2017 and has been a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor since 2018. Mr. Veal founded Serenity Grove in 2016, which created the opportunity to expand our organization's continuum of care to include inpatient detox and residential addiction treatment services. The proud father of two boys, Max and Clark, Jay and his sons make their home in the heart of Athens.
