Dr. Jamie Laing Bio

Dr. Jamie Laing's journey to becoming a chiropractor was ignited by her discovery that animals could receive chiropractic adjustments. Her fascination with this idea, combined with her early exposure to chiropractic care, set the course for her career path from a young age. At 14, Dr. Jamie began working as a Chiropractic Assistant at Whitemud Crossing Chiropractors, where she gradually developed a deep understanding of chiropractic principles, the human body's potential, and the importance of maintaining wellness. With a background in Kinesiology and Personal Training, Dr. Jamie pursued her passion further by heading to San Francisco, California. There, she achieved academic excellence by graduating Suma Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West in 2020. She is thrilled to return to Whitemud Crossing Chiropractors, where she can serve the Edmonton community through her chiropractic expertise. During her chiropractic education, Dr. Jamie developed a strong interest in Upper Cervical Chiropractic. She recognizes that proper articulation and movement of the top two bones of the spine are pivotal for the health of the entire nervous system and spine. She extensively studied Upper Cervical Chiropractic care to refine her skills in analyzing and adjusting the upper cervical complex, employing techniques such as Knee Chest or Toggle technique. While her specialty lies in the upper cervical complex, she's also adept in various chiropractic techniques, including Activator Technique and Drop Table. Dr. Jamie's dedication to patient care encompasses individuals of all backgrounds and needs. She understands the uniqueness of each individual and tailors her chiropractic care accordingly. Her goal is to provide the best possible care for every body and nervous system, and she's excited to join a team of chiropractors with diverse skills and experiences. She's committed to spreading the message of holistic health and well-being, embodying the sentiment of "Healing is an inside job" by B.J. Palmer, the developer of chiropractic. Outside of her chiropractic practice, Dr. Jamie finds joy in spending time with her family and her dog, Pippin. Nature is her playground, and she loves exploring the mountains through activities like hiking, kayaking, and snowshoeing, often accompanied by Pippin. Her active lifestyle also extends to regular workouts, reflecting her dedication to health and wellness. Dr. Jamie Laing's journey showcases her unwavering commitment to chiropractic care and holistic health. Her passion for providing individualized care, her extensive knowledge, and her love for the outdoors all contribute to her unique approach to helping patients achieve their optimal well-being.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
