Dr. Cody Hemsworth Bio

Dr. Hemsworth, as the medical director at Skin Worthy's new location, takes a holistic approach to patient care, focusing on individual needs through comprehensive consultations. His goal is to help patients look refreshed, relaxed, and naturally beautiful while achieving positive aging through a combination of laser technologies, regenerative medicine, and non-surgical procedures. His favorite procedures include: Halo Laser Skin Resurfacing: This treatment helps improve skin texture, tone, and overall appearance by using laser technology to target specific skin issues. Full Facial Dermal Filler Injections: Dermal fillers are used to restore volume, reduce wrinkles, and enhance facial features, providing a rejuvenated and youthful look. PRP Hair Restoration: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is utilized for hair restoration, promoting hair growth and improving hair thickness and quality. Dr. Hemsworth's expertise in dermatology, particularly in treating acne, is rooted in the teachings of Dr. Zein Obagi. For his acne patients, he combines a clinical-grade skincare line from ZO Skin Health with traditional prescription acne treatments to achieve excellent results. In terms of his educational background, Dr. Hemsworth completed medical school at Jagiellonian University and a Family Medicine residency at the University of Manitoba in 2014. Additionally, he earned a Diploma of Clinical Dermatology from Cardiff University in 2017. His professional affiliations include being an active member of several medical societies, such as the Primary Care Dermatology Society of Canada, Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and Ontario Medical Association. Outside of his medical work, Dr. Hemsworth and Barb share their experiences on Instagram, attending national and international aesthetic medicine conferences. You can follow him there and get updates on their activities. He is passionate about addressing patients' concerns and creating personalized aesthetic plans that support positive aging for years to come. If you happen to spot him with Barb in Toronto's west end, on the waterfront trail on his way to Skin Worthy, or biking with his son, don't hesitate to say hello.

Treatment varies depending on the type of skin disorder you have.

  • Diagnosis: The diagnosis of granuloma annulare is usually confirmed through a skin biopsy. This is essential because there are other skin conditions and infections that can mimic its appearance, and a biopsy helps distinguish it from other possibilities.

  • Course and Treatment: The condition often resolves on its own within a few years, disappearing as mysteriously as it appeared. Treatment may involve topical corticosteroids initially, but these might not always yield satisfactory results. Corticosteroids can also be injected into the lesions, which might be more effective but can be more uncomfortable. Some individuals choose not to treat it, especially if the condition is limited. Phototherapy and stronger immunosuppressant medications can be options for those with widespread disease, but these decisions require a discussion of risks and benefits with a physician.

It's important to note that the condition is associated with some uncertainties and variations in its course, with most cases being self-limited. Consulting with a medical professional for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment options is recommended in regards to Laser Medicine and Surgery
